The Black Dahlia Cold Case

• Overview and Bell Ringer Options

We will be watching background information on the infamous Black Dahlia LA Murder.  We will be using the story to help us to understand an example of a police homicide investigation and what a cold case looks like prior to writing our own mystery (which may or may not focus on a murder).  Today, however, you will have a choice as to which bellringer you complete.  You only need to complete ONE of the following:

  • Choice 1--Explain who you think murdered Elizabeth Short and why.  Write a minimum of a paragraph.
    
    
  • Choice 2--The Dahlia case has inspired a number of media adaptations over the years.  Discuss what about the case you might use in your own mystery writing and why.  Write a miniumum of a paragraph.  (Note: you should not be rewriting the Dahlia case--even renamed as something else--for your final project.)  

  Important note:  Parts of the documentary are sensitive.  It becomes particularly sensistive when Tamar talks about her relationship with her father around 14:00 for about 5 minutes.  Skip over such parts as needed.
